Campervan Tetris is a good game, best played with friends Jan 5th 2020

Sitting in the back with a cuppa I call my friends Alan & Karen who are also camperising their VW T6 van (partially as it's also a working vehicle for Alan) for a video chat. The ideas flow ...

This is what I'm looking at while we obsess about flexibility, being able to access all the wee spaces, and loads of options:
  • boxes as they are, bed from the back door
  • open space at the back door and bed touching the driver's seat. This allows for loading tall stuff like the portapotti
  • boxes to the left, bed on top, open space as a crawl space for tall stuff and carry my pushbike inside
Alan comes up with a couple of brilliant ideas
  • use the headrests as head boards to stop my pillows falling out the back
    • simply pull out the headrests and insert them into holes drilled into the bed board - brilliant
  • make a plastic tray for the toilet in case of 'spillage' which also allows for it to be stored, split, under the bed
I have an obsession about making it as flexible space as I can and with a high tailgate and a tailgate awning I have an extra space at the back as a kitchen/bathroom area when parked up. This leaves the inside purely for living space.
  • sitting room/dining room at the front
  • bedroom to the rear
  • kitchen/bathroom out the back
I like the box to the right and bed to left idea so I leave it for the warmth of the house and the sketch pad and come up with what is an almost final plan

Make the drawer sides and bed support box out of 18mm ply ... back to work and poor weather forecast for tomorrow
